At the age of 50, after never having art classes, I decided I wanted to take on a new challenge. I started checking out classes in my area and was lucky enough to stumble on an ad for Lucy Gardiner, art teacher. Lucy gave me a great start, teaching me the basics in painting with acrylics and also hand-building with clay. Her classes were small, so there was time for individual attention. I will always be grateful for Lucy's knowledge and her support in helping me develop as an artist.

My experiences with learning from and assisting Lucy Gardiner gave me a new perspective on art. She enlightened my personal artistic skills, and being able to assist her in teaching a children's art class was rewarding and enlightening.

The fundamental skills that I cultivated in Lucy Gardiner's art studio laid the foundation for my future in art. Without her expertise or the personal help and attention she gave to my art work at a young age, I could not have accomplished the success the I had in advanced placement studio art in high school, or my Studio Art minor that I earned with my undergraduate degree.

I started at classes with Lucy Gardiner when I was 27 years old. I was pursuing a career in graphic design at the time and did not want to lose touch with the finer arts of drawing and painting. Lucy's studio gave me a comfortable, inspiring space to learn and experiment with many different styles of media. Lucy's encouraging approach and enthusiasm for art helped me conquer fears and reach new levels of success with my art.
